Many Wolves fans have been flocking to a transfer update on Dion Sanderson as The Chronicle have reported that Newcastle United are scouting him.

As per the news outlet, other clubs in the Premier League have been keeping an eye on the defender, currently on loan at Sunderland from Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, whose deal at Molineux expires in 2022.

Sanderson has only played in one senior game for Wolves so far in his footballing career, which was in the Carabao Cup away to Aston Villa last season (Transfermarkt). However, his performances so far in League One have certainly attracted interest, meaning that the Wanderers may face an uphill battle to keep him.

The 21-year-old still has a lot of potential, and so it would be a real shame if Wolves were to lose him, especially to a Premier League rival.

Keith Gillespie has exclusively told Football FanCast that he expects West Ham United loanee Jesse Lingard to leave Manchester United at the end of the season, with the Irons keen to sign him permanently.

Lingard’s Old Trafford contract doesn’t expire until next summer, but he hasn’t featured in the Premier League for the Red Devils since July having fallen out of favour under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and has flourished since moving to West Ham in January.

Having scored eight times and added four assists in just nine league appearances for the Hammers, Lingard was recalled to the England squad – featuring in all three of the recent World Cup qualifiers – and is in the form of his life.

Lingard’s only three outings for Manchester United this term came in the domestic cup competitions, and whilst reports have suggested he could make a sensational return to Old Trafford next term, Gillespie believes that it’s the end of the road for his United career.

He told Football FanCast:

“I’d probably say that he will leave the club. He had plenty of time there to do something and got plenty of opportunities, and he didn’t deliver.

“It’s fantastic how well he’s done at West Ham. He’s really gone in and helped the club, scored goals, assisted and looks like someone who really enjoys playing football again. It can’t be fun when you’re not even making the squads, which is what was happening at Manchester United.

“I think come the end of the season West Ham will be doing everything to secure him on a deal.”

Whilst West Ham might not necessarily be Lingard’s next club, it’s hard to imagine a situation where he becomes part of Solsjkaer’s plans once again, meaning an Old Trafford exit is more than likely.

Farhad Moshiri played a blinder in backing a permanent centre-back transfer last summer after Marcel Brands revealed the Everton owner’s role in Ben Godfrey’s move from Norwich City.

What’s the word?

In quotes shared by the Liverpool Echo, Brands has told the Toffees’ USA Live event that Godfrey became the club’s number one target after the intervention of Moshiri.

The defender sealed a £20m move to Goodison Park at the start of October and has proven to be a key player for Carlo Ancelotti, with minutes across the Italian’s backline in 29 of a possible 32 games in all competitions.

Everton were not initially targeting a centre-back but were forced to make a quick change to their end-of-window plans in September after Mason Holgate sustained a toe injury and Jarrad Branthwaite tore ligaments in his ankle.

The Blues were unsure whether to add depth to Ancelotti’s unit with a temporary or permanent solution, but the influence of Moshiri led to a full-time deal being struck with Norwich for Godfrey.

“He was on our list already for two years, and when I had the discussion this summer with Carlo, the Chairman and our owner, we had to decide if we were looking for a centre-back on loan or if we want to buy,” Brands said.

“Our owner preferred to do a permanent, so Ben Godfrey was the first one on our list – and I think we did our homework well. He’s a great character, great athlete. He really adapted quickly to the level and to the club. I think the fans loved him from the beginning and that’s a good thing to see.”

A blinder from Moshiri

While Everton may not have been sure whether to explore a loan deal or make a permanent centre-back signing last year before Moshiri stepped in, the Blues chief certainly played a blinder by backing a full-time deal being struck.

Everton were left in an uncomfortable situation in the summer 2019 market when Marco Silva sought to sign Kurt Zouma at the end of his season-long loan spell from Chelsea, having seen the Frenchman impress in royal blue but hold no option to retain him long-term.

Zouma eventually returned to Stamford Bridge after the southwest London natives slapped a minimum £30m asking price on the 26-year-old, and he has featured in 28 Premier League games last term and 19 so far this season.

The Toffees would have rued being in the same position with Godfrey had they only signed the centre-back on loan from Norwich, having seen the 23-year-old establish himself as a key part of Ancelotti’s defence.

Godfrey has covered at left-back when Lucas Digne has been injured, featured occasionally at right-back and played regularly at centre-half over his 29 outings in all competitions since his move.

The England under-21 international’s efforts reportedly led Tottenham Hotspur to launch an inquiry into why they passed on his potential availability, while many Everton supporters often laud the defender who Ancelotti has hailed as being “fantastic” and “tactically intelligent”.

With the manager also considering Godfrey to be the best of his current centre-back options and the one with the most potential, the Italian seemingly owes a lot of gratitude to Moshiri for backing Everton to make a permanent move for the 23-year-old last year.

A identificação de Martin Silva com o Vasco não é de hoje. Desde que chegou ao clube, em 2014, para a disputa da Série B do Campeonato Brasileiro, o goleiro, convocado com frequência para a seleção do Uruguai, vem evoluindo e construindo sua história em São Januário com o carinho dos vascaínos. E nesta quarta-feira tomou atitude que surpreendeu: pediu dispensa da Seleção para concentrar a carreira exclusivamente no Vasco.

O empresário do jogador, Régis Marques, confirmou a informação ao LANCE!. Martin Silva chegou a ser chamado na lista inicial do Uruguai há cerca de duas semanas, e a Associação Uruguaia de Futebol divulgou nova relação ontem, sem a presença do arqueiro. Sites uruguaios chegaram a afirmar que teria pedido dispensa por problemas familiares, mas não foi o que acabou se confirmando posteriormente.

Nas redes sociais, logo após o anúncio, os torcedores do Vasco foram só elogios a Martin Silva pela atitude considerada de ídolo e pouco usual no futebol. Aos 33 anos, o goleiro era reserva de Muslera no Uruguai e pouco jogava, outro ponto que pode ter influenciado o titular vascaíno a tomar esta atitude de se dedicar integralmente ao Vasco. Em recente entrevista, o técnico Jorginho rasgou elogios a Martin.

– Martin Silva é um dos maiores goleiros com quem trabalhei. A frieza e o compromisso que ele tem com o objetivo do grupo… É um jogador fundamental para gente, que demonstra a frieza necessária. É muito bom contar com um goleiro desses em nosso elenco do Vasco, trabalhando em busca de nossos objetivos – disse o treinador.

Martin Silva já entrou em campo em 133 partidas pelo clube. Destas, o goleiro tem bons números: foram 66 vitórias, 46 empates e 21 derrotas. Neste sábado, Martin Silva vestirá novamente a camisa vascaína em partida contra o Náutico, fora de casa, pela Série B.

Pela seleção uruguaia, Silva foi convocado para as Copas do Mundo de 2010 e 2014, mas não entrou em campo nenhuma vez.

According to recent reports from Portugal, West Ham United have made an approach for FC Porto centre-forward, Moussa Marega.

The report by Portuguese newspaper A Bola (via Sport Witness) claims that both West Ham and Crystal Palace have ‘been in touch’ for Marega, whose contract at Porto expires this summer.

However, it is then stated that Fenerbahce appear to be leading the race for the 29-year-old, who has scored 11 goals and registered five assists over his 37 appearances in all competitions for Sergio Conceicao’s side so far this season.

Transfer Tavern Take

With the £12.6 million-rated Marega having highly impressed over his five-year spell with the Dragons, bagging 71 goals and providing 33 assists over his 182 appearances for the club, it is not overly surprising to hear that West Ham hold an interest in the striker.

Indeed, the east London side are in need of backup for Michail Antonio this summer, as, following the January sale of Sebastien Haller, the 30-year-old is David Moyes’ only option as an out and out centre-forward at present.

Furthermore, with the Mali international being available on a free transfer come the end of the season, perhaps Marega could be viewed as a cost-effective and experienced addition to Moyes’ attacking arsenal at West Ham.

A number of Liverpool fans have been reacting positively to rumours linking the Reds with a move for midfielder Teun Koopmeiners.

This summer could see some new faces arrive at Anfield as Jurgen Klopp looks to freshen up his squad and continue to build for the future. Wholesale changes aren’t required, but there are a nucleus of players in and around 30 years of age, so the Liverpool manager can’t afford things to grow stagnant.

Midfield is arguably the Reds’ most congested area of the pitch, with the likes of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum, Thiago, Naby Keita, Curtis Jones and James Milner all excellent options.

It could be that Wijnaldum moves on at the end of the season, however, as he continues to be linked with a summer move to Barcelona.

According to Calciomercato, Koopmeiners is being viewed as a possible replacement for the 30-year-old, with the AZ Alkmaar captain scoring 15 goals in 28 Eredivisie games this season.

The 23-year-old seems to be an exciting option and it may be a story worth keeping an eye on, especially if Wijnaldum eventually decides to leave Anfield.
