O treino do Botafogo deste sábado teve indícios importantes antes do clássico contra o Vasco, neste domingo. O goleiro Jefferson e o lateral-direito Luis Ricardo, que foram poupados nesta nesta-feira, voltaram e treinaram normalmente. Carli foi mantido entre os titulares, após bom desempenho contra o Fluminense, na quarta-feira. Neilton, finalmente, foi testado durante a atividade, que foi no CT de General Severiano.

O time que começou a atividade foi o mesmo que começou a partida contra o Tricolor, em Cariacica (ES): Jefferson, Luis Ricardo, Carli, Emerson e Diogo Barbosa; Airton, Bruno Silva e Rodrigo Lindoso; Ribamar e Gegê; Luis Henrique.

Apesar de ter começado no time reserva, ao lado dos estrangeiros Salgueiro, Nuñez e Lizio, Neilton foi testado na vaga de Luis Henrique. Carli entrou, como já havia sido no último jogo, na vaga de Renan Fonseca. O Barba havia sido preservado da última partida por dores na coxa direita. Neste sábado, ele treinou pelo time reserva.

According to Forbes, Manchester United are reportedly eyeing up a potential move for Sevilla star Jules Kounde ahead of the summer transfer window.

What’s the word?

Reports back in January suggested that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are lining up a summer bid for the 4-cap France U21 international, and given Sam Pilger’s latest report, it seems he is still firmly at the top of their shortlist.

Questions over United’s defence have arisen once again after the Red Devils conceded a late equaliser in added time to draw 3-3 against Everton at Old Trafford.

The report adds that United have been keeping tabs on Kounde as they look to add depth to the centre-back berth.

Upgrade on Victor Lindelof

Harry Maguire is the clear first-choice in the position. However, the club captain does lack a suitable partner for his spot, and Solskjaer is keen to change just that by bringing in cover and competition for a place in his starting XI.

Paul Scholes was not impressed with Victor Lindelof’s latest display after United squandered a lead twice to draw with Everton on Saturday. Lindelof started alongside Maguire in the Premier League clash as United were forced to settle for a point at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils took the lead twice but were pegged back on both occasions, with Scott McTominay thinking he had scored the winner 20 minutes from full-time only for Dominic Calvert-Lewin to dash their hopes in a six-goal thriller.

When asked if Solskjaer’s squad is strong enough to mount a successful title challenge, Scholes said: “I still have question marks against Lindelof, I always will.

“I don’t think he’s quick enough to play alongside Maguire, I don’t think he’s aggressive enough.”

Signing Kounde would be an almost immediate improvement on the Swede. The 22-year-old, who is currently valued at £45m by Transfermarkt, averages 1.4 interceptions per game in comparison to Lindelof’s 1.2, demonstrating a strong sense of positional awareness.

Unlike Lindelof, he is also strong in the air, and is prepared to bring the ball out from the back to put his team on the front foot, as evidenced by his one dribble per 90 in La Liga this season. He also made the headlines after scoring a stunning solo goal against Barcelona, which suggests that he’d offer an alternative threat in attack as well.

If Ed Woodward can bring him to Old Trafford this summer, then the youngster could prove to be a very shrewd addition for Solskjaer’s side.

Speaking exclusively with Football FanCast, former England international Steve Howey says that the injury for Angelo Ogbonna will be a blow for West Ham United.

Ogbonna sustained a high ankle sprain during the first-half of the Hammers’ FA Cup defeat to Manchester United after a challenge with Anthony Martial on Tuesday night, and now faces a lengthy layoff.

David Moyes has confirmed that Ogbonna is meeting a specialist to assess the extent of the issue, but early signs are that he does not require surgery.

When asked how much of a blow it will be for Moyes to lose his first-choice centre-half, given the relationship Ogbonna has built with Craig Dawson, but also his replacement in the same game, Howey told FFC:

“Well, it’s a blow. I think West Ham have done very well this season. Obviously, they had the lad [Tomas Soucek] that got sent off by Mike Dean, his cards been rescinded, so he’s back in the team.

“But, obviously, the two lads at the back, it’s always good when you’ve got that good understanding and a bond in a relationship with your partner back there. You can understand what he’s really strong at, what he’s kind of a little bit susceptible to, you can kind of read each other’s minds a little bit.

“So, obviously, it’s going to be a blow for them. It will be interesting to see who David puts in there, I’m sure he’ll have choices. But it’s a case of which I’ve said before, somebody’s injury or misfortune is another person’s fortunate break, and it’s up to them, if they are given the opportunity, is to take it with both hands.”

Moyes is refusing to put a timescale on Ogbonna’s rehabilitation, but accepts losing the 32-year-old will come as a huge blow as the defender has been ‘magnificent’ this season.

“First of all, I’d say it is a big blow because he’s been magnificent in the games he has played and his leadership has been really important to us as well,” Moyes said on Friday.

“I don’t have a timeframe [on how long he will be out for] just now and I wouldn’t want to put one on it either, even if I got it, because obviously we want to get him back quickly.”

Ogbonna had started all 23 of West Ham’s Premier League fixtures thus far this season while missing only the final half an hour of October’s 1-0 win at home to Fulham, when it was feared the 13-cap international had sustained a groin injury.

Diop has only opened one top-flight match since September and watched the Irons’ last 10 as an unused substitute, but is expected to be available to feature against Sheffield United on Monday.

O América-MG anunciou nesta sexta-feira a contratação de Léo Passos, atacante formado no Palmeiras. Ele foi emprestado até o fim de 2022, justamente o prazo de término de seu vínculo com o Verdão.

Aos 20 anos de idade, Léo Passos disputou a Série B pelo Londrina – foram 17 partidas e cinco gols. Ele estava no Palmeiras desde 2013 e passou pelas categorias sub-15, sub-17 e sub-20. Pelos juniores do Verdão, conquistou duas vezes no Campeonato Paulista, uma Copa do Brasil e um Brasileiro.

No time profissional, ele jogou uma vez, contra a Ponte Preta, no Campeonato Paulista de 2019.

Carlo Ancelotti may have dealt the final blow to Cenk Tosun’s hopes of having a longer career at Goodison Park by overlooking the Everton striker in Tuesday night’s 2-1 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Tosun was only awarded a seat on the bench for the Blues’ trip to Molineux despite seeing Dominic Calvert-Lewin create space for him to shine, with the England international unable to feature with a hamstring injury.

Ancelotti had been expected to favour Tosun in Calvert-Lewin’s absence to see if the Turkey ace could build any momentum into his game, after seeing the striker score his first goal of the season during Everton’s FA Cup third round win over Rotherham on Saturday.

Yet, the Italian tactician decided to throw a surprise into the works by utilising midfielders James Rodriguez and Gylfi Sigurdsson as two false nines, which would surely have left Tosun puzzled as to why he was not chosen to lead the line.

Ancelotti has frequently voiced support of Tosun’s abilities this season, with the former Chelsea boss claiming “I like his quality”, while hinting at a greater role over the festive period after the 29-year-old returned from a lengthy spell out following cruciate ligament surgery.

“From him, I expect what he is able to do, goals. I think he is really good in the box, really efficient in the box,” Ancelotti said, via quotes by the Liverpool Echo.

Tosun sustained the blow while away on loan with Crystal Palace last season but always envisaged returning to Goodison Park, despite Everton’s deal with the Eagles featuring a £20m option for south London side to purchase him.

“I feel like a new transfer for Everton. All the things I have done wrong, I will not do them again,” Tosun said back in November. “I am different now. I train and prepare better to help the team more.

“I have to be fit and, when I get the chance, I have to use that chance, to be there to score and help the team.”

Tosun must now be questioning what more he has to do to earn Ancelotti’s trust, with Tuesday night’s omission the sixth occasion the Blues’ £27m signing has been left an unused substitute, as the now £6.5m-rated forward waits to build on his mere 43 minutes of Premier League football for the season.

Yet he may never get that chance with West Bromwich Albion thought to have held talks over a deal that will see Tosun reunite with Sam Allardyce, who lauded the attacker as “the best in Europe” for the price he agreed to pay Besiktas in January 2018.

Ancelotti’s decision to overlook Tosun was surely a sign that he is willing to move on from the £60,000-per-week striker, and that Everton must look to get rid. It just remains to be seen who, if anyone, agrees to match whatever the Toffees demand.

Alfredo Gonçalves da Silva ainda analisou que no Atlético-MG e no Palmeiras o atacante terá mais concorrência.

– O Palmeiras tem muita gente boa jogando junto. Tem o Gabriel Jesus, o Erik que acabou de chegar, o Rafael Marques e lá o Clayton vai ter pouco espaço para jogar. No Atlético-MG é a mesma coisa. A concorrência lá também vai ser muito grande – afirmou.
