Tottenham Hotspur have made their first move in an attempt to bring Djed Spence to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

What’s the talk?

That’s according to a claim made Florian Plettenberg, with the Sky Sports Deutschland journalist revealing in a recent post on Twitter that all three of Tottenham, Manchester City and Arsenal have submitted offers for the Middlesbrough right-back, who is currently on loan at promotion hopefuls Nottingham Forest.

Plettenberg went on to state that the England U21 international is still being tracked by Bayern Munich, while it is also claimed that Boro will demand a figure of between €12m-€15m (£10m-£12.5m) in order to part with the defender this summer.

In his post, the journalist said: “Update Spence: Selling price is €12-15m! It is said that he has got ‘five offers’. City, Arsenal & Tottenham are among the interested clubs. [Djed’s] dream is to play for MUFC one day. He is a fan! Been told there should be still loose contact with FC Bayern.”

He’s a steal

Considering just how exciting a talent Spence quite clearly is, should Fabio Paratici be able to get a deal over the line for as little as £12.5m this summer, Tottenham’s signing of the right-back would certainly appear to be something of a steal.

Indeed, over his 36 Championship appearances for Forest this season, the £2.25m-rated full-back has been a constant threat on the right flank, scoring two goals, registering four assists and creating five big chances for his teammates, as well as making an average of one key pass, completing two dribbles and taking 0.6 shots per game.

The £4.4k-per-week defender has also impressed in metrics more typical of his position, making an average of 1.3 tackles, 1.6 interceptions, 1.3 clearances and winning 5.9 duels per fixture.

These metrics have seen the 21-year-old average a highly impressive WhoScored match rating of 7.10, ranking him as Steve Cooper’s fourth-best performer in the second tier of English football.

Furthermore, Leicester City’s former Premier League-winning captain Wes Morgan also appeared incredibly impressed with Spence following Forest’s 4-1 win over the Foxes in the fourth round of the FA Cup, stating of the youngster:

“Spence was outstanding all afternoon, he seemed full of confidence. He probably got what he deserved today with the goal. He’s a constant threat and kept his cool right until the end.”

As such, considering his sheer amount of potential, not to mention his seamless fit into Antonio Conte’s right wing-back role, should Paratici indeed be able to land the player who Ian Wright dubbed “unbelievable” for around £12.5m this summer, it would certainly be yet another masterclass by the Italian sporting director.

Nisarg Patel, the Most Valuable Player at the USACA T20 National Championship in Florida, is hoping that his performances during the tournament were enough to catch the attention of the USA team management and get a possible call-up to the national team for ICC WCL Division Three in Uganda.”I would love to be in the men’s national team as soon as possible,” Patel told ESPNcricinfo. “In order to do that, I have to put in performances. Without performances I’m not going to get anywhere.”Patel, 26, top-scored in two of the three matches played by South West Region and was never dismissed at the tournament. On the opening day, he hit an unbeaten 54 off 29 balls against Central West that included three fours and six sixes. He also took 2 for 14 bowling left-arm spin in an eight-wicket win over North East.A former junior representative of the USA, Patel played for the country at the 2006 ICC U-19 World Cup in Sri Lanka. He successfully completed bachelor’s and masters degrees in pharmaceutical science and took up a job with a US multi-national pharmaceutical company’s branch in the UK.The left-arm spinning allrounder spent the 2011 season playing premier league cricket for Richmond in the Middlesex County Cricket League and then followed it up with two years playing for Chelmsford in the Essex Cricket League. He feels he can be a meaningful contributor to the national team if given the opportunity.”The good thing about my job right now is that it’s a project management role so it gives you a lot of flexibility time management wise and job hours wise,” Patel said. “Obviously it’s difficult when you are doing such a high-prospect job and also trying to play professional cricket but I’ve done it in the past. I’ve done it in England for a few years and I don’t see how there should be any problem doing it in the US as well.””I’ve just come back. The £22.5m-rated man has also been impressive in a defensive capacity, making an average of 2.3 tackles, 0.8 interceptions and 1.1 clearances per league game this term, proving he is a complete player in the centre of the pitch who can cause problems at both ends.

Indeed, the £75k-per-week Doucoure was hailed a “complete” midfielder by former Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti, with the Italian stating: “Abdoulaye is a fantastic midfielder, a complete midfielder. He can defend well. He is a box-to-box midfielder. He can bring energy to the club and a different quality.”

The Frenchman was initially a favoured player under Lampard, playing the full 90 minutes over six games, but has recently not seen as much game time – playing just six minutes in the victory over Man United and being on the bench against Leicester City.

However, there is no doubt that Lampard must unleash Doucoure – who was dubbed a “bundle of energy” by Joe Parkinson – against Liverpool tomorrow afternoon, as he would certainly improve the Toffees’ chances of causing an upset at Anfield.
